National Diabetes Month:
Help spread eye health awareness

Each November communities across the country observe National Diabetes Month to bring attention to diabetes and its impact on millions of Americans.

Living with diabetes can be challenging to manage and Randy Jackson knows this all too well; he wants to help everyone with diabetes live a healthier life.

The Connection Between Diabetes and Eye Health:

When Randy Jackson was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, he knew a lifestyle change was needed to improve his health including a healthy diet and ample exercise — yet he was surprised to discover is there is a direct correlation between diabetes and eye sight.

People with diabetes need to take special care of their eyes because they are prone to develop Diabetic Retinopathy (“DR”), which is a complication of diabetes caused by damage to blood vessels in the eyes. There are usually no early warning signs or symptoms which makes it difficult to detect without an eye exam. When vision loss occurs, it is often too late to fully restore sight. That is why it is crucial that diabetics have an annual comprehensive eye exam.

This is the message he wants to share with the public. And, as an avid eyeglass wearer, he believes eyewear should be a fun, bold accessory that empowers men by enhancing their personal style. A new corrective prescription resulting from a yearly eye exam is a great opportunity to update your wardrobe. Why not look great while caring for your eyes and choose one of Randy’s favorite accessories, eyewear!
